It's been a while since I've updated the website. As you can tell from the photos the first Casino was an amazing success. More are on Facebook. We've only been able to have the chance for one more since then, because of the Olympics in Vancouver. It went really well, but it was on a Sunday, so it wasn't as well populated with people as the first. It'll be on a Friday from now on.

The greatest thing about the 2nd Casino was the fact that I brought back "Show And Tell" from grade one.  I've never done Show and Tell since and everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. As a matter of fact one of the people at the party decided to bring Show and Tell to other vegan and raw food potlucks in Vancouver. How cool is that?

What went down at the Show and Tell was that one person brought recorded music from Apollo Poetry, an amazing political poet in California, another brought something worn on your wrist to tell you how high you are during a skydive, someone else brought a punk rock music fanzine they created, which ended up being the largest one in Canadian History. Someone brought photos of cute cats from their childhood while someone spoke about their growth to becoming a more defined and stronger human after coming from a dysfunctional family. All those stories sound amazing, don't they? I must admit, I liked Apollo Poetry's political spoken word music the best, it set the mood for greatness but the story about one participant doing over 200 skydives was amazing too.

I also got to lead my very first Laughter Yoga class at Raw Food Casino #2, it was fun but still a challenge. It was a short one just to give people the idea of what Laughter Yoga is. I thought it was fun, but at the same time, I think Improv Comedy may have a more important role at Casino's than Laughter Yoga does. But, maybe I'm wrong!

So, when is Raw Food Casino number 3 going to happen? I'm not sure. Life is so busy in the Spring/Summer, and it's challenging keeping this idea going. So many things to do, so many ways to develop as a human. I'm not sure how active Raw Food Casino will be in the warmer months of the year, but don't fret we'll blast full speed ahead in Fall and Winter, having fabulous and fun events every single month.  Don't worry though, we'll still have a couple Spring/Summer ones for sure. Until the next one!

Cheers,

January 10th, 2010.

I'm Brian Wheatley, the founder of Raw Food Casino. I created the CASINO as a way to bring something fresh to potlucks in Vancouver. Potlucks locally are fun but I wanted to create something more memorable and different. That's why I call this a Casino and not a Potluck. This event is for people who crave more in lfe.

Raw Food Casino isn't just an everyday event. It's a movement. It's full of laughs, fun, delicious food and most importantly friendship and maybe even some Laughter Yoga... or Improv Comedy.

Our motto is; Eating Raw Food Is Like Winning A Jackpot, and that's exactly how you'll feel after you take your first bite of pure organic and raw food made with the most love and care possible. That is the type of food we will eat, food filled with love, that hasn't been cooked and with no ingredients derived from animals. Pure Vegan. Pure Love.

This event is about sharing the love of real food. Food made from the earth, without chemicals, in its purest organic form. We're also about building real connections with other humans who just happen to be awesome, thoughtful and fun.

The main Inspiration for this event came In early 2009, when I came across a Meetup (www.meetup.com) called: Rediscover the Art of Adventure -Passion Purpose and Success organized by Kerry Ward. After I spent some time at his home participating in a Public Speaking workshop I realized so much more can be had in life. I crave adventure as a Stand-Up Comic (soon to be an Improviser in Improv Comedy), but Kerry taught me that the word Adventure can be and is something much much more. I want to share that with you, in my own way.

See you there,
